Refill Bubble Mix Sparkling Herbs for your own Apple Bubbles

There's something special about making your own fizzy drink. You slice apples, add honey and the Bubble Mix. Then you let nature do its work. What results is not a soda from a factory, but a living, fermented drink full of character.

This Bubble Mix Sparkling Herbs is the refill for your RotPot Bubbles. The mix comes standard once in the kit. With this refill, you can make your own Apple Bubbles again, with just the right balance of sugar and spices.

How to make your own Apple Bubbles

The Bubbelmix is a ready-to-use mix of herbs and cane sugar. That sugar is essential for the fermentation process. It allows the yeasts to become active and develop flavor and carbon dioxide.

You yourself add fresh apples and honey. The yeasts on the skin of the apple start the fermentation process together with the sugar. After a few days, a fresh, slightly effervescent drink is created.

The recipe and required materials can be found in the RotPot Bubbles kit. This refill contains enough mix for one new batch.

Deliciously bubbly

How do your Apple Bubbles taste in the end? That always remains a bit exciting.

The result is a slightly spicy, fresh bubbly drink. Lighter in flavor than apple cider, more mature than apple juice. It is reminiscent of kombucha, but less acidic and more approachable.

The final taste depends on several variables:

the yeasts on your apple
the temperature in the room
the fermentation time
your way of working

Each hand and each house has its own microculture. That plays into the process. No two batches of Apple Bubbles are exactly the same. That's exactly the charm of fermenting yourself.

How does Bubble Mix Sparkling Herbs taste?

Fennel seed, cinnamon and cardamom give a warm, aromatic undertone. Cane sugar supports the fermentation process and contributes to the slight sparkle.

The result is a naturally fermented drink with no artificial carbonation added. Perfect as an alcohol-free alternative, as an aperitif or as a special homemade drink with a dinner party.

Ingredients Bubble Mix

Cane sugar

No artificial flavors. No dyes. Only sugar and spices that support fermentation and flavor.

Special edition with spices from The Good Spice

This edition Bubble Mix is made with spices from The Good Spice.

Many spices from the supermarket are on the road for years before they reach the shelf. Flavor dissipates, quality declines. There is also a lot of food fraud, intensive use of chemicals and pesticides, and a market dominated by a few big players. Farmers are often underpaid.

The Good Spice works differently. They know their farmer partners personally and pay a fair price, well above the market price. They agree on regenerative cultivation methods and support farmers in making their farms more sustainable.

They always buy the latest crop and get it to the Netherlands via the shortest possible route.

You taste that back in your Apple Bubbles. More intense, fresher and more honest. With this Bubbelmix you support short chain and fair trade at the same time.

How to make Apple Bubbles with this spice mix

Add the Bubble Mix to sliced apples and honey according to the RotPot recipe. Allow the mixture to ferment at room temperature until enough bubbles have formed.

Is this the same as apple cider

No. Apple ciders are lighter in flavor than apple cider and contain no added alcohol content like traditional cider.

Is it similar to kombucha

It is reminiscent of kombucha because of its slight sparkle and fermentation, but is less acidic and more accessible in flavor.

Why is there sugar in the Bubble Mix

The cane sugar feeds the yeasts so that the fermentation process starts properly. Without sugar, natural bubbles do not form.

Is every batch the same

No. The taste depends on the apples, the temperature, the yeasts and your method. No two apple bubbles are identical.
